The organization works to advance gender equity, disability rights, leadership development, and inclusive development through advocacy, training, and partnerships.

DWA is led by women with lived experiences of disability, including rights activists, community leaders, and development practitioners. The alliance is governed by an Executive Committee and supported by a Board of Directors with diverse expertise.
